Community Ties is a new program for CBFS participants. They are paired based on interest, hobbies, abilities, etc. with a volunteer from the community who shares the same interests. We welcome volunteers from the entire agency and there is no experience required. Our program seeks to provide social connections for the participants with people and the community. It is important for the individual to build a relationship with their volunteer, so we are asking volunteers for a commitment of 1 to 1 ½ hours per week. Research has shown by increasing socialization and making meaningful connections for people with mental health challenges improves their overall well being. So, become a volunteer! You would really be changing someone’s life. And, of course, your own life would be transformed in the process. Now, it doesn’t get much better than that!
